0 [Band-in-a-Box] Re: BB2011 patch map help for Roland JV-1080 synth

Update for any new JV-1080 hardware sound module users that may happen across this thread:

Yes, the JV must be in "Performance Mode" to play multitimbral scores (ie Biab) with patches from higher banks. The Roland manual states to use General Midi Mode for multitimbral sequencing, but, in GM mode, can't access higher banks, expansion card patches. Wasted a-l-o-t of time trying to get that pig to fly (higher banks with GM Mode).

Set up a template in one of the JV's USER performance presets.

Easiest to select and modify a preset performance that has one patch assigned to each mid channel 1-16 (like PRA-12 Pop).

Modify, re-name and save that to a USER preset. (ie "BiabTemplate")

Create or DL a Patch Map. PG support has some, but will need editing. Edit with notepad, put it in you bb folder, change .txt to .pat.

If you have expansion cards, you'll need to add those patches to your .pat. Cakewalknet / sonar has .ini files for all the expansion cards (google "JV1080 .ini"). Biab can convert the .ini to .pat .

The .pat are editable with notepad. PG has tut's. You will probably want to edit the patches into physical instrument groupings as the biab instrument pull down menu functions in the "+" higher patches dialog don't work very well - like not at all.

The "search" all button results pulls up the whole freakin' 1000+ patch list. Use unique text headers (ie like "Piano" with the quotes) for your instruments groups and search those text keywords. Still pulls up the whole list but you will arrive at your unique header.

Sounds great. Zero latency. Ultra low cpu useage.
