Layo and Bushwacka! need no introduction, unless you have been living in
a cave, hiding from the American military machine you will be aware that
the London duo Layo Paskin and Matthew Benjamin are a tour de force of
dance music. Night club owners (The End), rave music pioneers (The Rat
Pack) are just two worhty mentions from their impressive and often
infamous CV.
Globe trotting DJs and chart topping producers says it all really,
however, one thing their success neglects is the fact that they make
sweet, uncompromising techno and house and together as DJs are
deservedly in the Top 10-20 or thereabouts of the worlds best DJs in the
likes of DJ mag, Resident Advisor etc each year. We all know though that
internet based polls are not always the best benchmark for someones
sucess or ability, but Layo & Bushwacka!s remarkable legion of fans that
come to their gigs in London, Dublin, Rio, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo etc etc
is testament to the love that party people all over the world feel for
these guys.
Without fear of contradiction it can be said that, Layo & Bushwacka! are
one of electronic music's most esteemed duos. Comprising of Matthew
`Bushwacka' B, a percussionist in the London School Symphony
Orchestra who was converted into a member of the infamous Rat Pack after
a warehouse party in '88, and Layo Paskin, a North Londoner immersed
in the acid house scene who met Mr C at one of the legendary Clink
Street parties in 1988, before together setting up their world renowned
night club, The End. It was via their mutual friend Mr C that Layo &
Bushwacka! first met, whilst Matthew was working at his studio, and by
the mid 90s the two had started writing music together. Over a decade
later, the partnership has yielded three artist albums, three mix
albums, internationally renowned club residencies and a superb record
label.
Layo & Bushwacka!'s reputation as two of the world's foremost DJ
duos is rock solid. Three artist albums have proven them remarkably
talented producers, capable of mixing styles, tempos and genres to
create enduring and engaging electronic music. Their trio of mix albums
and international club residencies have shown they are masters of the
turntables, sonic connoisseurs who can guide a dance floor on an epic
journey through the many facets of their sound. Their label Olmeto
meanwhile has become a bastion for quality, a label that, much like its
figureheads, has become a rubber stamped seal of class.
The duo are no strangers to Ireland previously playing the redBox, The
Pod, The Academy, The Kitchen, Shine, Belfast and various world class
Irish and International festivals. Matthew Bushwacka B is also no
stranger to Nice & Nasty, remixing Yellow Pencil for them in 1994 and
playing for Nice & Nasty at the Network, Belfast and Charlie Heggartys,
Bangor. The last Nice & Nasty and Layo & Bushwacka collaboration was the
Slick DJ awards a few years back and the sold out show to Ireland elite
group of DJs, Promoters, and Producers simply reinforces their abilities
and status.
The intimate venue will provide a whole new deeper, emotional journey
for the clubber. Layo & Bushwacka! will be supported by Jay Riordan,
Brian Taaffe and Desy Balmer. There is a pre-club lounge line up
