My idea for teaching the third verse was to talk to the kids about "hymn book etiquette". Meaning how we treat the hymn books (I talked about the hymns being similar to scripture and our need to respect those books by not coloring on them, ripping them, etc.), how we should share a hymn book by each person holding one half of the book and how in a way we become singing partners with the person we are sharing the book with. Then I talked about being a good singing partner by singing respectfully, holding the hymn book properly (not being lazy and letting the other person hold the book, or not being wiggly so that the other person can't read the words--the kids thought my example of that was very funny)and never making fun of the other persons singing voice. After our discussion, I handed out hymn books and invited the kids to open to # 27. We worked on the third verse by correctly using the hymn books. The kids really enjoyed this activity and I will be using it again!

***In our primary only the senior primary is learning the third verse. So I'm not sure how this would work for jr primary.

I would love to hear different ways you have taught this song. What worked, etc. I did a quick search through the past posts and found very helpful voc. lists. I want to use the voc list for the 3rd verse and also to see if there was any games or object lessons?
