Not quite. You are probably thinking of "Tresle
Bracing" that appears on some Gretschs. These are
an attempt to go halfway to a 335. They are heavy
U-shaped braces designed to limit the motion of
the top, improve sustain and eliminate feedback.
(Who's gonna tell Neil Young and Pete Townsend
