0 Re: [primusic] Nursery Help!!

I agree with Karla.  I believe the chorister's calling extends into the nursery if that is what the PP feels is needed.  However.  You are very much in the right to let her know that it is too much... if you feel that way.  Especially in a large primary.  There is nothing wrong with asking for help either from within the nursery or for an assistant as some have mentioned.  I personally, as I stated before, wouldn't do it.  Mainly because it is easy to get burned out if you don't get a chance to catch your breathe.  Sometimes just doing the sr and jr keeps my heart rate soaring just doing some of the activities we do there.  Some of the ideas the group have shared are great!  I have used their cards etc too.  They are super!  But it is still taxing to be running back and forth even tho the nursery is usually low maintenance.  You will just have to see what works for you but I wouldn't hesitate to ask for help as Karla has suggested.

I was not under the impression that it was NOT part of my calling but rather by request only.  I think the presidency can ask you but I don't think they can just tell you that you are "poof" the nursery chorister.

They can ask you because it is part of your calling, and has been part of the choristers responsibilities for as long as I can remember and the handbook it states that.

11.2.4

Ward Primary Music Leader(s) and Pianist(s)

Under the direction of the Primary presidency, Primary music leaders and pianists have the following responsibilities:

They plan, teach, and direct the music for sharing time, including songs that will be part of the children's sacrament meeting presentation.

They help with music for the nursery class and other Primary classes as requested.

Please don't be offended by me asking that, it was just a question I had when reading your post.  With such a large Primary I would ask for some help, or have them call an additional chorister to help with Nursery or see if you can get some help from those who are working in the Nursery.
