To work easily, any midi device must be either strictly GM or must be
able to be placed into GM mode.

If your devices aren't capable of being placed into GM mode, you must
create a patch map for your specific device. That is where you tell
BIAB which patch to use when the style calls for a specific GM
instrument. To do this go to the Opt. menu and select Preferences and
the click on the Patch Map tab. You'll most likely need your Patch List
or Instrument List or Data Book for any device you want to have BIAB run
through. You might even have to make an advanced Patch Map. To do
that you have to go to the Opt. menu and then select Utilities and then
at the bottom of that submenu select Make Advanced Patch Map.
