can upgrade BiaB and Realband from the 2011 version for about $30.00.
It appears if you forget the Realtrack related stuff and the phone apps
there are basically two significant upgrades. One of them is a new mixer
panel in BiaB that makes it easy to do some stuff that is easy to do in
RealBand. No new capabilities, but likely a major plus in convenience
inside BiaB. The other is a serious upgrade in the RealBand Jukebox which
up to now could be a pain to use, depending on what you were trying to do.
Again, no real increase in capability but a major increase in usefulness.
There seems to be a minor tweek to pull in demo songs for a style over the
Internet, including demos for styles you don't have. Mildly interesting I
guess.
Looking at their Realtrack support they seem to be continuing to improve
their capability to make the RealTracks function well over a wider range of
tempos, which also results in reducing the space overhead for existing
RealTracks.
Nothing as exciting as the 2010.5 upgrade that added compressing or
expanding the timing of songs while doubling or halving the tempo to
compensate, which effectively doubled the number of midi styles you could
consider using on a given song.
So, not compelling enough to make me spend $30.00 now instead of waiting for
my annual upgrade at the end of the year.
