We have done this as well.  You can also use those little canisters that film come in.  I asked at Walmart and got over 100 of them.  They worked just fine and make the right amount of butter for a bun or cracker.  We did that and had a discussion about some of the photos from the GAK that are about pioneers songs.  We had someone sing that plays a guitar and talked to them about what the pioneers did for music and activities.  We even took a little tub of water and put ice in it and had the kids stand in it with their shoes and socks off  while we discussed the picture of the young boys carrying the saints across the Sweetwater.  It was really a nice singing/sharing time.  We sang the pioneer songs in between each thing.  We actually had it outside and had blankets for them to sit on.  We had any kids that wanted to wear pioneer clothing come in it and some of the presidency had sun bonnets etc.  (For those of you that may be interested in using all of the time on that day.

You just put heavy cream with a pinch of salt in a container they can shake. Shake it for a few minutes voila! butter. I went to the pharmacy and got some empty medicine vials to do this in. The kids loved loved loved it! I brought bread I had made and we did singing time first that day and during sharing time me and one of the counselors buttered pieces of bread for each child.

Could you send the recipe for cream butter?

Don't forget about using "buffalo chips" this month (July) & shaking cream to make butter while they sing. The kids end up jumping up & down to shake the cream, then put in on some bread.

Anyone who is responsible for an event at church should always clean it up afterwards, not leave it for someone else. The building should be clean & ready to receive Jesus after you leave. I love my 300 silk leaves I use in the fall in Primary that I let the kids use hair driers to blow all over. I use styrofoam peanuts in winter also with hair driers & it makes a mess all the way to the front door, but I clean it ALL up! When they pop balloons, there is clean up for that, too. The mummy wrap uses a whole roll of toilet paper, but it's great fun & I just clean it up, too. Most of the glittery & other streamers were snatched right up by the kids from the poppers & just a little mess was left anyhow.
