In keeping with the current English language thread - quick story! I was in Hungary back in 1981 and ran into a fellow American (quite rare back then!)He also was a musician and we got to talking about a sax player that we both knew from New Orleans. He remarked "boy,that jive, lizard, cat really blows his socks off"!
The friend that I was with (a Hungarian that prided himself on his English) listened intently on our conversation and did his best to follow it. When the other fellow left, he broke down each word and individually broke down it's meaning. When done, he asked "Eddie, what does this all mean?" I told him it means he plays saxophone very well! What a colorful language we have!
