I've taught "Oh What Do You Do in the Summertime" before and I brought props for all the things the song talks about. We gradually learned the song by pulling out a prop and a child would come up and hold. Then when we sing their line, the child holding the prop does their action with their prop (they will cast their fishing pole when we sing "fish in a stream"). The kids really loved it.
Here's the props I used:
fish in a stream: a fishing pole
lazily dream: a pillow
swim in a pool: goggles, life vest, floaty, etc.
swing in a tree: a rope with a knot at the bottom
march in parades: I randomly own a marching band costume but any band instrument would do
drink lemonades: a pitcher full of lemons & a cup
count all the stars: cut out 3 stars for them to hold
Anyway, hope that helps. I actually want to teach this song the first Sunday in September to take a break from all the reviewing! Good luck!

Does anyone have any fun ideas to go along with these types of songs? I've thought of maybe having flowers and behind the petals are something or have bees in the bunch. And then we could do a fishing pond for one of the songs but I just don't have any complete activity/idea for the songs.
