You can think of it that way, as countless generations before now have
thought of the changes in the English language which they witnessed.
Things like "ain't" which used to be a perfectly good contraction of "am
not" and was used by the nobility and everybody was outlawed as being
bad English, the former pronunciation of the K at the start of "knight"
and "knife" passed into disuse and millions of other examples.

Language is meant to communicate and as such it is constantly evolving.
Some people like the way it evolves, others don't like it, but like it
or not, evolution of language can't be stopped until a language dies
like Latin (which actually isn't dead, although it's very close to
breathing it's last since the Catholic Church stopped using it for its
Masses.) Latin grammar books from 2000 years ago are still valid study
guides. English grammar books from 40 years ago aren't.

Even the French Academy which has struggled to maintain a tight control
on the evolution of French is fighting a losing battle as non-French
terms are assimilated into the language.

Personally, I'm fascinated with the changes in language that I've
witnessed in my lifetime, and have chosen to stay as current with them
as I can, whether I use them myself or not at least I can understand them.
