Hi Rick,
I'm the same way, "quick, down and dirty" is how I do most of my music now. I used to spend hours editing all the MIDI till it was perfect. Years ago, I don't remember having to clean up the endings on BIAB. I don't remember fixing endings, just changing them.
I've heard some great Drum VSTi, but these great sounding songs I hear other people doing are made up of a lot of different software that all has to run separately. Too many steps to make a simple song for me. And a lot of money which I don't have. Years ago I used Alesis Drum Machines and an Alesis Drum Module to handle my drums and I had everything I ever needed and never left BIAB or Cubase. (When Cubase was only MIDI) It was all so easy.
I wish PG would invest in making a couple of great software synths. Anything extra for great sounds and great drums. We shouldn't have to go to other companies for good sounds. They've spent a great deal of time and money on RealTracks, but they are not useful to me if I can't control them. I know they have great sounds, but If I can't use an RT Bass sound for a simple Bass line that I write, it's useless to me.
I love great percussion and have heard some incredible things others are producing, but they use other software that's hundreds of dollars extra and not compatible with BIAB. I wish PG would develop a great software synth.
Having the whole BIAB package on a hard drive with all the new features, is like having a great stereo system, with top end components and listening to it with a set of cheap ear-buds. I'm not knocking RTs, so everyone please don't think I'm attacking them or those who use them.
Wayne,
