I made some wind wands one year with sparkly wrapping ribbon.  I just cut  strips about a foot long of about 3 or 4 different colors and taped them onto a tongue depresser.  (is that what you call them?) You can buy a box of over 100 for only a few bucks.  Then I just have the kids wave them around as they sing.  They love it.

Also you can take the noodles that kids use in the pool and cut sections that are about an inch thick.  They can put them to their mouths and toot toot with them.  Then just put them in a zip lock baggie with their names on it and you can use them a few times.

Also for the rhythm sticks DeAyn mentioned if you don't want to bother with the dowels you can get chop sticks at Walmart for cheap and they work great.

Some of the fun things our Nursery Chorister has for the children are:
"Rhythm Stix" (made from cut sanded wooden dowels)
"Shakers" (made from tiny water bottles filled with beans, corn or rice and then hot glued closed and duct taped for extra security)
She had a few other hands-on items she passes out to the children but the 2 above are a BIG hit.

Happy Sunday to everyone!  I was wondering if anyone else is also over the Nursery music. I am looking for new things to add to my music bag for the wee little ones. Right now I just have the basics;  Sunbeam, I am like a Star, Happy Family, Fun to Do.. we sing other songs but that is all I have props for.
