Clif, thank you for this comprehensive information regarding my question about better soft-synths. Your informantion makes me realise that I need to spend time using the Realtek and finding out exactly what it can do for me. I still use the old Coyote Forte Dxi synth with BB which I think sounds better than the latest wave-table offering which comes with BB so that area is OK. On the soundfont side I have a huge collection which have been gathered over many years so that is also an option with a suitable player. Having just bought the Native Instruments Maschine controller I confess I am sold on all things Native Instruments. The free to download Kore Player and extra sounds also provide a rich sonic pallette to play with so yes, there are options to investigate but your obvious regard for the Realtek on-board chip encourages me to give it more consideration, which I will do. And the plus side is that I already have it so no more cash needs to be blown! Regards, Ian.
