With BiaB it can be difficult to tell what is a bug and what is a feature.

Inside BiaB type a control-E to bring up the Preferences window. Click on
the "Arrange" tab which will open the "Arrangement Options" window. Find
the line that says "Lowest Bass Note" which will probably be set to E2.
Change it to G1. Click "OK" and you are back in the "Preferences" Window.

Now click on the "Channels" tab and the "MIDI settings" window will open.
On the Bass line the second entry should be "Octave" and probably has a
setting of -1. Change this to a -2. Click "OK" and back in the
"Preferences" window click "OK" again.

See what you think, but don't forget to change your preferences back when
you go to do something else.
