0 [primusic] Primary Gone Wild

Today in Primary I used the Crazy Chorister's idea of "Primary Gone Wild" to review our program songs.  Here is the link:

It was a huge hit!  I didn't have any puppets so I used Webkinz animals instead and brought them in my dog's travel crate.  The kids loved it.  I told them my "wild friends" begged to come to Primary to help with music time.  I let the kids pull them out of the crate one at a time and then we followed the directions.  We only got half-way through the crate so now I'm all ready for next week.  I used some different songs and animals than the Crazy Chorister so I thought I would post my descriptions in case they would be of help to anyone.  You'll notice I have "The Lord Gave Me a Temple" 3 times.  That is because it's our new song so we need to practice it the most.  Thank you Crazy Chorister!  These are my wild friends:

Cassie Cat & Matthew Mouse—Matthew Mouse loves to hide from Cassie Cat.  Help Matthew hide while another child takes Cassie Cat out.  Help Cassie find Matthew by singing louder or softer as she gets close to his hiding spot. (The Lord Gave Me a Temple, 153)

Bonnie Bunny—Bonnie Bunny loves to hop around.  Every time you hear the word "My" or "I", hop down the row to the next seat.  (Jr. Primary just hop in place).  (I Will Follow God's Plan, p. 164)

Draco Dragon—Draco loves to direct music by flying.  Sing louder when Draco soars higher and softer when Draco flies lower.  (Scripture Power)

Oliver Owl—Oliver likes to land on people's heads during the song and doesn't want to get off unless they know the next phrase.  Hoot the song as Oliver flies around.  When he lands on your head, tell him what phrase comes next.  (The Lord Gave Me a Temple, 153)

Cami Canary—Cami sings so beautifully that she doesn't need the piano to accompany her.  See how beautifully you can sing a cappella with Cami.  (I Love to See the Temple)

Ricky the Red Panda—Ricky likes to carry shiny things around.  He is going to throw the coin in the air and if it lands on heads, the boys will sing while the girls clap the beat.  If it lands on tails, the girls will sing while the boys clap the beat.  (Praise to the Man, 27)

Freddy Frog—Freddy just cannot stay still for music time.  He loves to hop right out of his seat every time he hears the word "I."  Hop out of your seat with Freddy every time you sing those words.  (If I Listen, v. 1)

Charlie Chicken—Charlie loves it when kids sing staccato so he can peck the beat.  Help Charlie peck the beat to this song.  (Stand for the Right, p. 159)

Peter Penguin—Peter Penguin wants all the songs to be "Program Ready."  See if you can make Peter happy by singing the way he likes.  (If I Listen, v. 2)

1.     Eyes on the director.

2.     Follow director to stand and sit down.

3.     Stand tall and look out.

4.     Hands at your side.

5.     Feet still.

6.     Sing the words clearly and think of their meaning.

Penny Puppy—Penny loves to play with stop signs.  Try to keep up with her as she flips the stop and go signs while you sing. (The Lord Gave Me a Temple, p. 153).

Clever Clarice (fox)—Clever Clarice loves a challenge and now she has one for you.  Clap every time you sing a word that starts with "G" and stand up or sit down every time you sing a word that starts with "S."  (Give Said the Little Stream, 236)

Timmy Turtle—Timmy loves slow and reverent songs because he wants to feel the spirit.   Help Timmy feel the spirit by singing this song slowly and reverently.  Don't forget to think about the words.  (If I Listen, v. 3)
