Maybe let them earn something by singing? I just saw someone's blog post about the kids earning a big marshmallow for each song they sang well. THEY didn't get the marshmallows, though. They were put in a bowl and then at the end, the chorister had to stuff her mouth with them and sing. Or there is the one where the class who sings the best earns the hideous hat award that their teacher has to wear until another class out-sings them.
