If these children are not capable of playing from the Songbook or even the simplified hymns, I do not think they are ready to play in sacrament. The Handbook states:
"much sacred music that is suitable for concerts and recitals is not appropriate for a Latter-day Saint worship service.
Music in Church meetings should not draw attention to itself or be for demonstration. This music is for worship, not performance."

I think they should be encouraged to continue to develop their skills, and when they are ready to play music for the official program or approved music additions, then they can play for the meeting.
