To clarify my position, I personally have no problem with Halloween and have the "unofficial" ward party and trunk or treat at my house because it's not allowed at the church.  I agree that people's personal feelings about the holiday very widely, and THAT is why I would recommend getting approval before pursuing an activity at the church that uses that theme, because it is likely there are ward members that do not support the holiday and might be unhappy it was used at church.  Better safe than sorry, and if you have specific approval, no worries.

I think the idea to use glow sticks to teach directing is pretty innocent and a great idea!!
