We just had our program and it was WONDERFUL!  Here is what we did for standing up and sitting down.

 

I sat on the first pew in the chapel.  When it was time for a song, I walked calmly up to the spot right below the pulpit in font of the pew.  I held up one finger (one) then two fingers (two) and then motioned for them to stand up.  When the song was over, I walked to just below the pulpit and did the same thing for motioning them to sit down.  

 

Several people came up to me afterwards and complemented me on being patient about having them stand and sit and taking the time to have them all do it together.  It made a huge difference!
