0 RE: [Band-in-a-Box] Pennsylvania 6500 files do not load properly

Hi Jake & David,

A couple of minor points.

(1)....selected "save link target" and
>> saved them to my hard drive....

[ian] that sounds like Mozilla firefox and that
You control [ie know ] the directory \ sub directory that the
Downloaded file[s] will saved.

(2)...Then I double clicked on one and BIAB2011
>> started and played the file....

[ian] So in that case *.mgu is a file association that is
'registered?... assigned to band in a box.

The above combination works...

(3) There is a system wide property which controls how file[s] are shown to the user.
[off hand it's something like] 'show or hide known file associations'. Advanced users
Imho usually leave this option unchecked so that complete filenames are always shown &
You can avoid potential virus like "innocentOne.mgu.exe"

... i saved them to my download folder and all I got was just code...

Maybe you are running into something like (3 above) here.
It's a little difficult to be sure but someone with a knowledge of DOS could navigate to the
'download folder' & do a dos directory listing to be sure of the exact file name...

For eg, i use
C:\0dls [ as a standard directory to download just about everything to].
I would set up C:\0dls\biab if i knew intended to download a few biab files...

For biab files, i use C:\bb\ian & subdirectories for anything related to biab and me.
So that C:\bb\ian\inetDls\2011Jul might be used for biab files about now...
And also so that biab will find its style files etc [ in C:\bb\ etc ]...

Re (2 above) i've chosen NOT to associate all of the file extensions to biab
Ie *.Sg1, thru *.Sg9, then *.Sga thru *.Sgz, then *.Mg1 thru *.Mg9.. *.Mgz etc
Ie the ones that are not automatically associated with biab during the installation
process.
I put up the slight inconvenience of loading biab, then navigating in biab to the
Known sub-directory to load a particular file.

This works for me.

Sorry for the convoluted and imprecise explanation but hope it helps.

Ian C

So the folder got corrupted? you don't have any file that says
pen65000.mgu?

What happened when you double-clicked whatever it was that was in your
download folder?
