Thank you Paula for sharing such a beautiful experience with your primary children. I couldn't help but become filled with the Spirit when reading this and now as I type I too am teary eyed.

I have to share what we did today because it was so inspired and brought an amazing spirit. We wanted to do it for the 5th sunday, but our bishop had other plans next week.
We have been learning about preparing to go to the temple this month. We did a combined singing/sharing time today. First of all, our primary room splits into 3 sections with dividers. We separated off one section and then did an activity in the other two open. Our PP taught about the gospel standards and the kids did an activity to further learn about the gospel standards. This helped fill a requirement for Duty to God. Then, the PP asked if everyone would follow them and promised that if they would, that they would be worthy when the time came to go to the temple. What do you think the temple is like? How do we act there? What do we need to get into the temple? A recommend. We made these little cards that said "I promise to follow my gospel standards" and had a pic of the temple and two signature lines. The kids came up one by one and signed them, and then a member of the bishopric signed them. These were their recommends.
We opened the divider not very wide, and on the other side, we had very soft music playing, flowers, lamps on clothed tables, a picture of Christ on their eye level, pictures of the temple and pictures of the primary leaders at the temple, open scriptures and a Christus statue. It was very peaceful and reverent. I greeted them in a whisper when they came quietly into the room, wearing my white dress and slippers. I said "Welcome", but not "welcome to the temple" because I didn't want to take away from the sacredness of the temple, but we wanted to kind of recreate the peace there as much as we could.
The children didn't speak above a whisper, and sat reverently inside our recreation. I told them the purposes of the temple and then sang "I love to see the temple" in acapella (the piano was still on the other side of the room). Then I told them about the day I was sealed and all the emotions and Spirit that went with that. Then we sang "Families can be Together Forever".
I can't express how special of a Spirit attended all of us today as we entered our fake celestial room. Sitting in there in white waiting for the children to come through the "veil", it was so peaceful and calm. Some of the children had tears in their eyes during and after, and I did, too, and I"m NOT a crier. I hope that all the children will remember that spirit and that they can have that one day at the temple and prepare themselves to go.
This might not be suitable for all primaries, but the presidency and I really felt guided to give the kids this experience. Thanks for letting me share.
