I did this a couple weeks ago and it was a total hit! I borrowed a trench coat, hat and magnifying glass from my sister. I had them "get ready" to be a detective with me. when I pulled the coat out from behind the podium to put on they were in awe. Quote: "whoa! She has a trench coat and hat! Cool!"- from the oldest boy in primary. I had hidden music notes all over the room, someone had stolen the notes and we had to find them. For the first half ( I had the whole primary time), I had the teachers and presidency be the "suspects" and we had to figure out which song they stole from their response to my questioning. (I had handed out a half sheet of paper with yard tied on it to hang around their necks with criminal numbers on the front and their part on the back. I asked each one a question, and they read their part AKA clue for the kids to figure out the song, and then we would sing that song while a child looked around the room for a missing note with a song written on it. The kids loved it, and I think the teachers got a kick out of being the criminals too. :) Then once we found the songs, I put them in a file folder and the kids came up and picked out a song to play hot and cold with. I think we all had a lot of fun!
