You add the melody by entering it using a midi keyboard or other midi
instrument. Or you can enter the melody using the notation window.

To turn the melody off and on between specific bars, you can edit the
melody using things found in the Melody menu.

The exact steps to follow depend a lot on how the song is created in
BIAB. Some people create a single chorus, enter the melody, enter the
number of choruses and then save the file. It's harder to do what you
want with a song that's created that way -- not impossible but harder.

Other people create a straight-through arrangement, so the song file is
essentially one long "chorus" which plays start to finish one time.
It's easier to edit melodies for arrangements you want in that sort of
arrangements.

Mostly look in the Melody menu, there is an entry at the bottom called
"Edit Melody" which opens up a submenu with all the choices you want.
