2011 Back to School Review for Program Songs:
Bought red paper cut out apple shapes from Wal-Mart (in the back to school supply section)
Wrote the following subjects on three apples…so used a total 21
Recess
Art
History
Math
P.E.
Pop Quiz
Hide two of the apples under primary chairs, One apple for junior primary and one for senior primary. Keep one apple of each subject up on the board.
Had kid's look under their chairs and each child that has an apple under their chair grabbed just ONE of the apples. (This alleviates having to 'set up' again for senior primary)
Child brought up their apple and placed it under the matching apple from the board.
We turned the apple from the board over, and that told us what we were doing for that song.
Recess~ played chair hoping (moved one chair to the left on My and then back to their original chair on I though out the entire song) on the words 'My' and 'I' pg. 164
Art~ child chooses two teachers to come up and draw picture clues for the kids to guess which song we are singing ~ pg. 95
History~ answer this question: Over 2,000 years ago the hardest thing was done , the greatest pain was known , and the biggest battle was won. Where did this take place? What is the name of this song? (
Math~ 1…2…3…4… show that you can sing and count the beat with this song pg. 153 (do a pat pat clap clap rhythm while we sing with jr. primary and stomp, pat, clap, snap with sr.)
Reading~ at school we read books to gain power thru knowledge and learning. At church we are taught we can gain this type of power when we read this book. What is the name of this song?
Recess~ Let's take a break as we sing with gusto! Stand up, get your actions ready Hymn 27 (we did actions with this song, but you could use any wiggle song)
Pop Quiz~ At school we have to sometimes think quick! As you sing this song you'll need to think ahead and don't get tricked. DO NOT sing the Word I~ If I Listen With My Heart
I also wanted to do a lunch break at the end and pass out cookies, BUT since its fast Sunday I decided against that.
Should be fun!
