I just wanted to share this idea that. I usually try and tie in my singing times with the sharing times so that they build onto each other. And when I saw that this week's theme was "the gospel will be preached to all the world" I thought of something fun I would do.
What I did was call members of my ward who served missions. I asked them to tell me about their mission, what language they spoke, and a short little synopsis of what it was like to serve there. Then I asked them their favorite primary songs. I then made missionary name tags with their names on them and all the information on the back and laminated them.
What I plan to do is ask the children to come up and pull one of the name tags and then I'll read what the ward member said and then we'll sing their favorite songs. Many of them chose songs from the program which is an added bonus.
Then at the end of the singing time, I'm going to give the kids a laminated future missionary tag for their own.
I was amazed at the diversity of the missions. We had these missions covered: Bolivia, France, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, Africa, Chile, Italy, and the United States. I even have one sister coming in to bear her testimony in spanish and my hubby is going to come in and do his in german. I think it is going to be so much fun for the kids.
I just thought I'd share this idea with you all.
